Located in the centre of the Southern Lakes, the farm is ideally situated for people to do endless activities right from the door step. From challenging hikes and gentle walks, to some of the best mountain biking in the country (Grizedale Forest), not to mention Coniston Water offering water sports from open water swimming and paddle boarding to rowing and kayaking - all accessible from the farm.

Boating

We have over half a mile of lake frontage and a private boating area complete with launching area and jetty for the use of our guests. Guests are welcome to bring their own craft and use the boating area. For larger craft there are launching facilities either at Bank Ground Farm or in the village we also offer the use/hire of a mooring and boathouse as well as boat and trailer storage.

For those that do not have their own boat but would like to get out and about on the water we can arrange for any guest, regardless of experience, to hire a boat during their stay, from a rowing boat, Canadian canoe or stand up paddle board.

Swimming to kayaking and SUPing

Fishing

With the correct permits available in Coniston village guests are welcome to fish from the shoreline at Bank Ground, there is some great pike fishing available just off certain areas, the lake also has trout, char, perch and at the right times of the year salmon making their way back to the streams from the sea. Hawkshead trout farm offers fantastic fly fishing and is only a short drive away.
